Hi. Iām Catherine McNamara, Artist and Teacher
I live in the beautiful north woods of Western Wisconsin with my husband, Kevin, and our dogs: Coltrane, Dax, Misty, and Yara. I was born and worked in Florida, where I earned a BA in Art and Art History from the University of South Florida. For many years, I taught high school art, specializing in drawing, photography, ceramics, and digital art. Alongside teaching, I cherished helping students discover their unique artistic voices.
After a mid-life career change, I shifted from classroom teaching to focusing more on my own art projects. My portfolio is full of diverse drawings, paintings, and photographs, each piece telling a story about the natural and historical world. I also combined my photography and writing skills to create a guidebook for the Hixon House Historic Museum, blending historical facts with visual storytelling to enhance the visitor experience.
I'm passionate about the natural world and its histories, using my art to link observation and reflection. I believe in the joy and healing that come from creating art, and I aim to deepen others' appreciation of our surroundings through visual exploration and contemplation.
Welcome to my world, where every creation is a step toward understanding the stories that connect us to the earth and to each other.
